Last Saturday, more than 75 community members gathered at the Tucson Community Center for our first town hall on education and public schools. The energy in the room was incredible — and the conversation was exactly what this campaign is about.
Parents, teachers, students, and retirees shared their experiences with Arizona’s education system. We heard about overcrowded classrooms, teachers working second jobs to make ends meet, and the urgent need for more counselors and support staff in our schools.
“These aren’t just policy issues,” Ben said during the discussion. “These are our kids, our teachers, our neighbors. When we underfund our schools, we underfund our future.”
Key takeaways from the town hall included strong support for increasing per-pupil funding, raising teacher salaries, and expanding career and technical education programs. Several attendees also emphasized the importance of mental health resources in schools.
Ben committed to making education funding a top priority in the State House and pledged to hold regular town halls throughout the campaign to keep the conversation going.
Our next event is a Meet & Greet at Barrio Brewing on April 19th. Check the Events page for details and come join the conversation.
